Will members please note that the novice striking competition scheduled to take place on Saturday 29 October 2016 at Harworth has again had to be postponed. This arises from injury and bereavement affecting several members of one of the teams and it is deemed inappropriate to deny the holders to chance to properly defend the trophy, there being only one other known entrant. The meeting will revert to open ringing from in line with the other details published on teh web-site:
Saturday 29 October
3.00 pm – 5.00 pm Harworth
5.00 pm – 6.00 pm Refreshments at Tickhill
6.00 pm – 7.30pm Tickhill Open Ringing.
Please give us your support and make this a succesful meeting.
A pleasure to ring for a wedding at Blyth today as a request by Nathan Fisher. Tinged with sadness for the band as it was Nathan’s last wedding as tower captain before he & Gemma move to pastures new & their new lives together in Sunderland.
Nathan has been a dedicated tower captain at Blyth, an asset to our society being a deputy ringing master, organising quarter peals & helping ringers advance with his support. A loyal committee member who has given 100% to keep our little society going over the years.
Yesterday at our societies monthly meeting at Arksey members present said their farewells to Nathan & wished him all the best for his future.
We will miss you so much Nathan but wish you both every happiness in your new lives & exciting adventure together.
We will be looking out for your suggestions of an outing ‘up North’ & I’m positive several of our society members will be travelling your way to meet up with you & share ringing at your new churches.
Thank you for everything you did for ringing in the Doncaster area & we are all immensely proud of you.
President, Doncaster & District Society.
Fabulous outing today touring North Lincolnshire. Excellent choice of towers & lunch venue organised by Ted Steele. Huge thank you Ted from everyone who attended today.
Methods rung during the day: Cambridge, Yorkshire & Lincolnshire surprise Major, double Norwich, grandsire & stedman triples & doubles. Kent minor, Bourne & Cambridge surprise minor, little Bob major & minor & combined Plain & little minor. Plain hunting & rounds & call changes.
Thank you to everyone who attended & made the day such a success. Thank you to Marian Thomas for all her assistance today & Wendy Crow for providing tea & looking after us so well.
Sadly due to lack of novice ringers taking part, we have cancelled the striking competition at Harworth this Saturday 11 June 2016.
Please can you pass on this message to any ringers in your tower who are thinking of attending.
With regret we have had to change the plans for the coach outing which will now take the form of a self-drive car based outing. The programme for the day remains the same but a revised itinerary is on the website and this now contains the post codes for the towers for sat nav users.
A newsletter containing further information has been sent to all subcribers on the newsletter mailing list.
Please note that Ted Steele requires food choices before the day and ideally a week beforehand if possible. It is also still important to let Ted know if you are coming on the outing as this will greatly help with planning, and he will do his best to co-ordinate car sharing if requested.
The pub menus are available on the Media page.
